Carlee and Dan closed out our 2019 summer at Bayonet Farm for their outdoor barn wedding with a modern touch. I say modern touch because Carlee and Dan didn’t host the traditional rustic barn wedding. Yes it was outdoors and on a farm, but the elements added allowed for a more upscale feel. Cocktail Caravan brought fun cocktails and a beer wall for guests while Chantelle Corbo events built a custom lounge area. One of my favorite details was the use of confetti. This trend photographs beautifully and is just all around fun!
Unlike other outdoor weddings we do, this one had two locations for the reception. The barn which was used for dancing and celebration while the tent offered a low key area for guests to enjoy dinner and conversation. This was great for guests, allowing them to move around the property to experience different areas.
Dan asked Carlee’s dad and brother for their permission while she was in California for work, and planned on asking her just a few days later over Labor Day Weekend. Each day of the weekend kept passing by without a chance for Dan to ask, as Carlee kept making other plans for them. Finally, Tuesday, September 4 was the day and Dan said he couldn’t wait any longer – Carlee had an extended LDW so she had the day off from work, but Dan had to go back to the office on Tuesday.
During the day, she hung at the pool with two girlfriends, and throughout the day she had a feeling that Dan might have something up his sleeve, since he had made specific plans for them to go to the beach after he got home from work before sundown. So, later that evening when Dan got home from work, he was wearing Carlee’s favorite shirt of his and she had a feeling her suspicions were right.
They went to the beach at the perfect time and it was a beautiful night. After a few minutes of talking and sipping on a cocktail on their blanket he “popped” the question. Carlee’s brother was hiding out on the boardwalk taking photos and brought them some champagne! They then went to one of their favorite local restaurants to get their favorite meal – pizza and wine. End result = great weather, fun photos, and a very private proposal, just the way they wanted it!
One question we always ask our couples is why? Why did you choose the venue for your wedding? How did you decide that was the one? In Carlee and Dan’s case, they were looking for non traditional. Bayonet Farm offered the option of the rustic barn wedding, while allowing for a modern feel by adding in the elements they desired. One of the perks of Bayonet is that guests can host their dancing in the barn while their dining under the tent. This allows guests to flow freely through the two spaces and not feel they need to stick to one place. Carlee and Dan also held their ceremony at Bayonet, utilizing the entire property.
